The point of him asking for money is a non sequitur. All non-profit apostolates ask for donations. Has anyone here not ever heard Mother Angelica's "put us between your gas and electric bill”? The fact that RealCatholicTV is a media outlet is a perfect reason to use media to ask for donations. It's what they do. If you go to their YouTube channel and watch every video they have uploaded you will find that this video is only ONE out of HUNDREDS that DON’T ask for money.
As for being "mainstream" I'm reminded of a GK Chesterton quote - "A dead thing can go with the stream, but only a living thing can go against it." They may not be “mainstream” and that is a good thing, but they are ORTHODOX meaning they uphold the teachings of the Church. A duty that I’m afraid even the liberal USCCB fails at all too often.
The so called "mainstream" Catholicism in America is a touchy feely, feel-good, watered down version of "Catholic Lite" that has cozied up to the culture where no one sins anymore, and thus has no need for regular confession. They tolerate abortion, homosexuality, embryonic stem cell research, divorce and remarriage outside the Church, and a host of other sins and yet march up to the communion rail on Sunday like they’re going through a drive through. Just look at the length of the confession lines versus the communion lines at Mass and you see what I mean. The Church in America needs a wake up call and RealCatholicTV provides the service, and for that I am grateful. God bless RealCatholic TV for providing content that comforts the disturbed and disturbs the comfortable.
God Bless Michael Voris for offering free content. Not all of the content is pay per view. Hopefully his viewership will increase and it will open the door for him to pay his bills and allow him to offer more free content.
