NOVENA FOR IMPOSSIBLE REQUESTS

2009-03-25

Just a reminder....tomorrow (March 25) starts the 9 month "Novena for Impossible Intentions". Bet we could all name a couple this year!  The novena is attached. Also....this is the tradition of the Church regarding March 25th:

March 25th

The old Catholic encyclopedia under the entry for the Annunciation says:

“All Christian antiquity (against all astronomical possibility) recognized the 25th of March as the actual day of Our Lord's death. The opinion that the Incarnation also took place on that date is found in the pseudo Cyprianic work “De Pasch Computus”, c. 240. It argues that the coming of Our Lord and His death must have coincided with the creation and fall of Adam. And since the world was created in spring, the Saviour was also conceived and died shortly after the equinox of spring. Similar fanciful calculations are found in the early and later Middle Ages, and to them, no doubt, the dates of the Feast of the Annunciation and of Christmas owe their origin. Consequently the ancient martyrologies assign to the 25th of March the creation of Adam and the crucifixion of Our Lord; also, the fall of Lucifer, the passing of Israel through the Red Sea and the immolation of Isaac. The original date of this feast was the 25th of March. Although in olden times most of the churches kept no feast in Lent, the Greek Church in the Trullan Synod (in 692; can. 52) made an exception in favor of the Annunciation. In Rome, it was always celebrated on the 25th of March.”

Evangelium Vitae was issued on March 25th.

Catherine of Sienna was born on March 25th.

SAINT PATRICK ARRIVED IN IRELAND ON MARCH 25TH!!!!

NOVENA FOR IMPOSSIBLE

REQUESTS

(To be said March 25th to December 25th)

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.  Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  Oh clement, oh loving, oh sweet virgin, Mary....

v. Pray for us most holy Mother of God

r. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Virgin of the Incarnation, a thousand times we greet thee, a thousand times we praise thee for thy joy when God was incarnated in thee.  Because thou art so powerful a Virgin and Mother of God, grant what we ask of thee for the love of God.

(Here state intention #1; repeat all of above & state intention #2; repeat a third time and state intention #3)

CONCLUSION:

Remember, O most Gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession was left unaided.  Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee oh virgin of virgins, my mother.  To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. Oh Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee.  Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Blessed and praised be the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar, in Heaven, on earth and everywhere. Amen.
