A Theological Tour of Rome – Quiz Blog 2
The second of our weekly "Where in Europe am I"? quizzes.

As we all know, there is a church in practically every corner of Rome. The professors at the Rome campus of the University of Dallas capitalize on this. Dr. Dawson-Vasquez, our Theology professor, makes visits to churches a core portion of his course. We need to write short, theological interpretations of 12 of the city’s churches.

When I first looked at our assignment list, I was amazed by the assignment because at first it seemed like a lot of extra work tacked on to an immensely burdensome assignment list. Today I visited three of the churches necessary for the assignment, and I surprisingly found that this assignment will be the best part of the course. The two churches pictured are in the northern portion of Rome near the Via del Corso and are definitely must-sees for anyone traveling to the Eternal City.

The answer to photo quiz from last week is:

  • Picture 1: Santa Maria Maggiore – The area underneath the altar which houses relics from the crib of Christ.
  • Picture 2: Santa Maria Maggiore – This is the mosaic in the front of the church behind the altar.
