“I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything...
We have already read about what Jesus stated, according to S. John’s gospel; “I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.” (John 15-15).
We are so careless, because we do not notice what the God’s Son said. He called us friend, even knowing about our condition of slave.
Being God, the Lord accepts us as friend. Actually, we are servant and we always be servants but the Lord established another level of relationship with us. It is more different than a king who takes his servant and raises him as friend. It is wondrous; on the other hand, the servant should not miss this chance. He must assume his position as friend of king and nourish this relationship with him.
Jesus has already committed with His own promises
I no longer call you slaves…
. notice that it was Jesus initiative; it was his choice. He considers us His friend…. We should not lose this chance that Jesus gives us. First we should not lose Jesus friendship and after that, we should nourish such friendship. Such nourishment, we get through bible reading, because it is the key to root our friendship with the Lord. The Bible is our manual of instructions and I wrote a booklet to help your studies – The Bible was written to you.
Different of any other kind of manual, this booklet should not be read only for reading, but we must follow each step stated there! Our intimacy with the Word of God leads us to the deep prayer; and, our prayer will be improved through this intimacy. We will become intimate of God. The word of God and prayer will take us to the high level; we will accomplish Jesus will, and thus it will be accomplished this statement: I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. The beauty of this spiritual exercise lies on our decision to accomplish our daily activity according to Jesus will. Thus, our friendship will achieve its intent. The Bible states: “A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter; he who finds one finds a treasure.” (Sirach 6,14), let us imagine how pleasant will be to become friend of God! That is my wishes to you. May you become a friend of Jesus! This article has been viewed 141 times.
