I have just had my first appearance as a member of the "guest blogging team" for the Chicago Tribune's religion blog. My post is a response to a Tribune cover story on the predicament of couples who resort to IVF to resolve their infertility problems, and then face questions about the embryos that may never be born.

If y'all could visit the site, comment on it and let others know about it, that could confirm the Tribune in its willingness to support religious dialogue like this. It would also ramp up my credibility(!), and--most importantly--allow the conversation to go deeper. I am especially concerned that comments from Catholics show pastoral concern for couples who are in this predicament, since all I did, really, was look at the predicament from an objective sort of stance. That's never enough when you're talking about people's actual lives.

I am the only Catholic on the Tribune religion blog team (there are quite a few secular humanist ministers, it seems).

Hi everyone:

Some of you know that I'm the Music Director for a youth-oriented Christian radio station based near Reno Nevada. You also know that I've been blind since birth and that I've been working in radio broadcasting for many years.

Unfortunately, the radio station I work for is suffering financially and it's up for sale. Therefore, I'm seeking new employment.

If you or anyone you know is interested in receiving my resume and/or corresponding with me, please send me a private message. I'm very interested in working full time in Catholic radio, but I'm open to all job possibilities. Please keep me in your prayers as well.

God bless,

Victor Lawrence

Today, the Feast of the assumption, is the official release date for my Catholic mystery, BLEEDER (Sophia Institute Press, $14.95)! It's available at sophiainstitute.com, amazon.com, and should be in bookstores soon. Just in time for late summer reading!

Are you interested in wholesome Catholic adventure novels that are ideal for the entire family? A story that breaks the boundaries of the human imagination without including needless violence or inappropriate scenes?

The second book in the Dan Clay trilogy, "The Harrowing Escape: The Quest of Dan Clay," was recently published.

I want to alert 4Marks subscribers to its release, as well as the pubication of the first novel in the series, "A World Away: The Quest of Dan Clay."

The final book in the trilogy, "The Sinister Realm: The Quest of Dan Clay" will be released in the fall of 2009.

To purchase your copy of the first two novels, I've attached the Amazon links.

Blessings on you and your loved ones.

Thank you.

Just learned that our local Catholic radio station, WFJS, needs immediate monetary assistance to overcome a major, short-term financial hurdle. If you know of anybody who might be able to help the station out, would you please be so kind to consider pointing that person either directly to the radio station (http://www.WFJS.org) or send him/her to me and I can provide some additional details on the situation? Also, please consider offering prayers on behalf of this station. It's New Jersey's *only* Catholic radio station (sigh!). Many thanks for considering this request.

Are you tired of supposed "best selling" novels that demoralize readers? I have authored a Catholic adventure trilogy that's ideal for adults and teens who are searching for wholesome literature that captures their attention and imagination, while also re-educating/reminding them of the importance of practicing basic morals. Purchase your copy of "A World Away: the Quest of Dan Clay" and the second installment, "The Harrowing Escape: the Quest of Dan Clay" by T. J. Smith online at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or at tatepublishing.com. The third installment in the trilogy, "The Sinister Realm: the Quest of Dan Clay" is scheduled for release in the fall of 2009. If you're a fan of C. S. Lewis or J. R. R. Tolkien or a homeschooling parent, the books will make excellent additions to your library.

May our Lord bless you with His peace.

Hello, everyone. I'm a mass communications instructor at an Illinois community college, teaching the Intro to Mass Comm course, news writing, news editing, radio production/programming, and Journalism and Democracy (not to mention English courses I do). Nice to have the summer off (though I teach an online lit course, "The Bible as Literature." I was in radio/TV for 17 years before going into teaching. It's a good gig.

Hi all,

Any ideas on how a youth oriented Christian radio station can get more financial and support from adults who don't like Christian Rock and Rap? http://www.renegaderadio.org

Hi, all. Don't know how many of you know of CatholicTV, but among their great offerings is a "talk show" called This is the Day. http://www.catholictv.com/shows/default.aspx?seriesID=72&videoID=96. I was on last Friday to discuss my book, The Body of This: http://www.amazon.com/Body-This-Stories-Andrew-McNabb/dp/1934866059/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1228389588&sr=1-1
