I would love the wording of the mass to be more in line with the Latin. To make it not so I think means there are those who want to make the mass into their own image and likeness. Bishop Trautman is wrong in his opinion and he will be disappointed when it is put into place and the American Church will be the better for it.

“ 'If the Roman Missal does not speak to our culture, the church in the United States will suffer,' he said." The Church in the US has suffered much by trying to appeal to the culture too much. His Excellency apparently doesn't like the Vatican that much. Where's his humble submission to the Church? Kathleen is right that the Liturgy needs a sacred language. Using contemporary language too much often dumbs down the prayers or texts. For example, just look at any Bible that says it's in today's English or that it's the contemporary English version. I'm tired of listening to Catholics basically argue that people are stupid and won't be able to understand anything. This is insulting and not true. Is it retirement time yet for Bishop Trautman?
